Information On Kung Fu Styles

By Patty Goff

The word kung Fu is mainly used by the Chinese people mainly to refer to any activity that involves the use of patience, energy and also time. In the western world however, when this word is mentioned the first thing that will come to mind is martial arts that originated from China. This art is associated with a lot of fighting techniques that are put in different categories. There are very many kung Fu styles that have been in existence for very many years.

Even though there have been fresh styles formulated in the past, most are just modifications of old methods that have been in existence for a very long while. They vary in various places since many people believe that they should reflect the different manners that different individuals live. The first group is the hard and the soft methods. The soft ones include the techniques of distracting momentum to interfere with the stance of the enemy. After the enemy loses their poise, beating them in the match becomes quite easy.

In the soft kind of fighting, the fighter is required to use a lot of skills and internal force. The hard ones on the other hand only need one to be strong. They require too much force for one to win in these fights. The kind of force that the fighters use, these techniques can also be classified according to the type of motion used. There are linear and circular techniques which attack directly and to the side respectively.

There are also the internal and external techniques. The internal ones mainly focus on the intangible factors such as body control, meditation, mind control and also perception. These techniques can also be referred to as the mystical techniques and they are also a part of the soft techniques. The external ones however work through the release of body force. In these types of techniques, a lot of body strength and posture is required.

One of the facets that the leaders of martial arts look at to formulate new techniques include the environment. For example, they can observe the behavior of different animals and then form a new fighting method from it. For instance, there exists the monkey style which was inspired by the monkey behaviors.

There are very many other techniques. Some common examples include the northern shaolin, the dragon, white crane, the praying mantis and many others. Most of them have been invented from the behaviors of animals such as the monkeys and dragons. There are others however that were just invented by the expert kung Fu masters in the past.

It is not all techniques of fighting have survived the many years that have come to pass. One can learn any technique extensively by seeking the guidance of a master. This is a game that does not only improve the ability of a person to fight; it is also a spiritual progress that can have a great impact on the emotions of the participant.

The key reason for the invention of this art was to achieve self-defense but presently, it is organized as a sport. Different competitions that use martial arts are usually arranged in many different areas across the globe.
