People spend a fortune on their hair. They want to look good, be in fashion and be recognised. It is amazing to note just how many people spend money on straightening their hair whilst others spend equal amounts in having it waved or permed. For those that desire straight hair the Brazilian keratin treatment seems to be a specific favourite. It has taken the world by storm and saloons everywhere offer it.

Over the ages, hair styles have changed. One thing remained constant, however. People want to be fashionable. Hair and hair styles have always been part of the fashion of the day. And yes, to this very day people are willing to spend money on sporting the latest style. Getting your hair strait may cost a lot, but it is worth it if it will render a person fashionable.

Keratin is a protein that envelops the hair. The treatment that offers people straight hair apply a compound that is said to contain this ingredient. It is said to cause the hair to be become soft, pliable, strong and, of course, straight. To be honest, thousands of satisfied clients swear by the method. They say that they enjoy their beautiful hair.

Despite criticism, those who believe in this treatment defend it ferociously. They like the idea that their hair looks the way they want it to look. They like the idea that they are able to change their hair the way they want to. If there is a negative side to the treatment they do not want to know about it. Results count, do they not.

Of course, there are those that says that this treatment is detrimental to the health of the those using this treatment. They say that the treatment not only damages the hair but that it also causes long term negative effects. They say that the hair is left undernourished and that it will suffer broken ends, brittleness and that it will be prone to break.

It is interesting to note that OSHA has issued a warning about this kind of hair treatment. They found that the treatment not only damages the hair permanently, but that once treated it stopped the hair growing back naturally. They furthermore think that the treatment may have other long term health indications such as rashes, skin cancer and even permanent hair loss.

Despite the many criticisms against this method of hair straightening people continue to flock to salons to look the way they want to. Numerous web sites attest to the effectiveness of this treatment. Perhaps the jury is still out. But one thing is certain. As long as people want to look beautiful they will embrace treatments that give them what they want.

Regardless of the opinion of anybody, people will do what they want. Those who wants their hair straightened will do so. Even if they realise that they are damaging their hair they will still go ahead with changing it to their own desires. And who are us to challenge them.
