An Overview Of DaVinci Robotic Surgery Houston And Its Advantages

By Larry Wright

In history one of the most complicated surgical operations to have ever been conducted is a prostate surgery. This is because it is such a delicate organ and with the slightest mishandling can have fatal consequences. In DaVinci robotic surgery Houston, the organs operated have delicate nerves whose path and functionality can easily be altered if not handled carefully.

Robotic surgery is the in thing in the field of medicine and more so surgical operations. Unlike the conventional surgery in which the surgeon himself made incisions, three or four robotic arms are used in the procedures. Incisions are made through which these arms are inserted into the patient. Two of the arms are used as the surgeons arm; the other one is used as a camera. The fourth may be used to remove obstacles.

A three-dimensional imagery technique is used to view the internal parts of organ being operated on. The surgeon then controls the arms using a state of the art motion sensor technology. The arms are then directed to make the incisions. During the procedure, the machine has a vibration damping feature which controls the vibration hence increasing its precision.

The technique has marked advantages which give it an edge over the traditional one. First, there are fewer side effects. This is because the arms of these robotics are controlled to targeted areas. This is important as it ensures that most nerves and their endings are left unaffected.

The patients who undergo surgical procedures using this technique require shorter durations for recovery. In the open surgery technique, the muscles are weakened. This forces the patient to undergo pain management sessions which are costly and consume a lot of time. Using the Robotics is also a Saving when viewed in this angle.

The patient also has smaller scars once the procedure is done. This is especially important if the incisions are done in the open areas. In the traditional surgery more often than not there were scared tissues which were unaesthetic.

There have been cases and reports made against some of these surgeons who were careless enough to stitch some of the surgical equipment to their patients body. Such cases can now be considered as obsolete since the operation is automated and any errors arising can be easily detected and corrected promptly.

There is reduced the risk of infection. The equipment used are sterilized before use. Since there is no contact with the machine operators, the equipment can be considered safe to use. This, in turn, gives the patients the courage to carry on with the procedure, as their safety from infection is guaranteed.

In the open surgical technique, there were cases in which the patients died from excessive loss of blood. This called for the need for a blood donor for a blood transfusion. Most of these operations never ended well although some patients managed to survive the encounter. Using this technology has less risk of bleeding as the incisions made are minor ones.

There are many other numerous examples which have not been sited. They include less pain and discomfort during the procedures, greater visualization, and better total output.
