Rain Is No Thing With Frizz Fighting Hair Products

By Jeffrey Brooks

Weathering a rainy or muggy day can be a chore when we start our day without the right frizz fighting hair products on hand. When curls become frizzy, it can make any long-haired man or woman appear poorly kept. No one wants to give the impression that they do not care about their appearance, nor should they feel forced to tie it all back every time the sky threatens a cloud.

In the past many have just brushed a palm-size glob of body lotion into their curls in order to keep them calmed down. Unfortunately, this technique can all-too-easily backfire by weighing down their waves or flattening their curls. Not only that, but lotions can actually dry it out, causing the problem of frizziness and static fly-away to actually get much worse, especially at the ends.

A smoothing milk is one product that can work very well for anyone who utilizes a straightener. For some with more wavy or curly tresses, a heat straightener can cause the frizziness to occur even without humidity being a factor. Smoothing milk helps keep the straight look from becoming fly-away, and lessens the effect of static electricity.

Men and women who like to keep their curls may find them more manageable when they run a good mousse through their wet lengths. In fact, there are some curl enhancing mousses on the market which allow one to simply rub a little on, and go without any other grooming steps taken. Rather than being frizzy, they often sport ringlets or healthy waves with no additional fuss.

For many years gels have been avoided by anyone wishing to have a soft, natural look to their do. In past decades this was good advice; however, consumers are encouraged to revisit this option. A lot has changed since the 1970s and 1980s, and some of the gels on the market today can keep the look smooth without being heavy, greasy, or sticky.

Oils are the new kids on the block, and they certainly have their place. Most advertise that they contain protein, keratin, or both, and are actually good for supplementing locks that have seen one too many mornings under a blow-dryer. These oils are pricey, but a little bit goes a long way in order to avoid looking greasy.

Anyone looking for the right product might seek to buy sample-size bottles or tubes. This allows them to try various brands, or different types of product, to see what they prefer. Researching what it claims to do is as simple as any other Internet search. In fact, finding the products online and seeing how other consumers rate them is a vital tool for anyone who does not want to waste money on an inferior option.

Modern consumers are more and more ingredient-conscious. This is a good thing, as some products containing harsh ingredients, dyes, perfumes, and other chemicals can cause allergic reactions. In fact, petrochemicals and parabens are often avoided completely, and such ingredients will always be listed on the product labeling.
